An Introduction to Data Pump

Monarch’s Big Brother

Congratulations go out to Datawatch as just last week they released an upgrade to Monarch’s big brother, Data Pump V9. Software development such as this is no easy task, so major programs like Data Pump are an enormous undertaking.

Data Pump allows for automation of the data extraction and delivery process. Monarch users know that those activities are generally manually controlled, though they can be automated somewhat via Monarch’s COM interface. Among its other features and abilities, Data Pump removes the need to have you handle that work yourself if you only use Monarch.

The key item for Excel with Monarch readers is that Data Pump requires the skills you’ve acquired in creating Monarch models in order to capture the data.

Your knowledge of crafting Monarch models is even more valuable, as there is a real and substantial upgrade path; not just from older to newer Monarch versions, but within Datawatch product line.

As you continue to refine your Monarch skills while perhaps working in smaller organizations that might not need a product like Data Pump, know that your skills will be very much in demand as more and more large organizations implement Data Pump. And as Datawatch continues to add functionality to Data Pump, as they have with V9, based both on existing client requests and their own vision, expect that Data Pump will be used more frequently.

Prepare for your own upgrade and excel with Monarch.
