If you (as an individual or as an organization) can weather the difficult economy, you ought to be able to positively thrive when things the economy improves. Today we’ll look at how using Monarch impacts the job market for individuals, though the same discussion may well hold true for the success of organizations that take full advantage of Monarch.

According to Bobbi Dempsey of Investopedia.com, today’s “seven most universal job skills” include:

Top-Notch Communication Skills

Responsive, clear and concise communication is characteristic of a Monarch user, as they must be able to understand requirements and convert raw data into clearly actionable information. Because this mandatory activity is often repeated, it’s not uncommon to see this skill manifest in the Monarch user’s general persona.

Creativity

Monarch users are perhaps unique in their ability to adapt to multiple roles, as their skills are regularly in demand by many groups within an organization. They often successfully bring new approaches for solutions to the many different challenges that come their way.

Curiosity

Monarch users will likely never proceed beyond the basics of their craft without asking questions like “Why?” and “What if…?”, so that’s what they do. Constantly.

Indeed, some of the best Monarch modelers carve out time to experiment with the software to develop techniques that the software isn’t really intentionally designed to perform. Because of the transformative nature of Monarch, this user rarely accepts the defaults or the norm. They constantly strive for improvements in terms of function, usability, and value of the information that they supply.

Good Writing Ability

While clear writing demonstrates clear thinking, nothing says that you can see the big picture as well as the details as well as developing solutions with Monarch that involve multiple model and project files to achieve a singular goal. This often requires building and then connecting multiple data sources, and being certain to document the process, both internally using the commenting facilities that Monarch provides, and externally, so as to convey the necessary inputs and processing to the uninitiated or for future reference.

Ability to Play Well With Others

In working to accomplish their goals, Monarch users must routinely interact with staff at many levels within an organization, and if they can’t work effectively with others, their work will not be successful. We know that such a result is not acceptable to Monarch users. Using the collaboration tools that are included with Monarch, they even help other Monarch users accomplish their goals faster and more efficiently.

Re-engineering Skills

I don’t know of anyone whose fundamental training is in Monarch usage. By sheltering us from technical requirements, Monarch extends our abilities.

Monarch users are chameleons; masters of adapting to change. They can convert data from one format to another in seconds, and are accustomed to employing critical thinking to offer new approaches to overcome challenges. Their rounded experience and familiarity with the overall organization gives them rare insight and ability to contribute.

Computer Skills

Today, being computer literate is often not simply a desire but rather an absolute requirement.

Monarch users possess not just fundamental computing skills, but may well have a broad range of knowledge and may even be quite technically minded. They push harder to differentiate themselves and their skills from the competition by learning how to enhance their productivity and effectiveness by automating their Monarch work, perhaps by creating small batch files which perform data extractions and manipulations easily or by designing complete custom programs using Excel VBA optimized for processing Monarch tasks.

Prepared for Everything

Change is positively constant, but change may not be constantly positive. Having a good Monarch user on your team can help in numerous ways, not the least of which is in managing change.

Today’s Monarch user is the kind of employee that any organization would be proud to have on board.

They’re bright and diligent. They’re effective communicators that delve into challenges and build terrific solutions. They can positively adapt to the constant adjustments that we all face, and don’t struggle with their computer while doing it.

In short, they excel with Monarch.
